Our second annual Comedy Meets Couture and second fundraising event for the 2018/2019 Rotaract year, Comedy Meets Couture II “A Sauve Affair” was held the Phoenix Theatre on Saturday, September 29, 2018. The event highlighted rotaractors and friends of rotary, regular size and plus size figured, modeling evening attire, casual attire, semi-casual, African wear and swimsuit wear. The audience was treated to a group dance routine choreographed by our very own International Service Director, Shanice Salmon, and performed by same along with Directors Chantal Harriott, Chez Ashman, and Nathaylia Wilberforce and two other friends of Rotaract. Secretary Melzetta Smith performed a one-woman liturgical dance piece, a soft dance genre to captivate the sultry of the evening. Afterward, the audience was treated to poetry, singing and other performance pieces done by members Rtr Samuel McDermott, Rtr Kimberley Sommerville and President Kevaughn Prout from the Rotaract Club of UWI Mona. Comedians Adubbs, Curley Roberts and Leighton Smith had the audience in constant laughter throughout the event. All fashionable pieces were designed by nine (9) local designers and the African wear pieces were provided by the Nigerian High Commission who also provided Chin-Chin, a Nigerian snack, as complements to the guest upon arrival at the fashion show.
Designers & Stores who participated included, Designs by Shen, DTS by Daniela Stone, Nearly Naked Bikinis, The Swimwear CEO, Masterpieces by Allia Madden, Touch of Minka, Suety’s Boutique, Enigma etc., Trendy Chik Boutique and African pieces donated by the High Commissioner from the Nigerian Embassy. Gift certificates for spa services provided by ProCare Wax & Fusion Clinic, Glo Skincare & Bella Oasis Day Spa. Gift Basket was provided by All Wrapped Up Jamaica for the gate prize.
