Our annual Inter-Home Games dubbed Inter-Home Summer Olympic Games “Let’s Get Sportified” was held at the New Providence Primary school on Saturday, August 25th. The event’s purpose was to build the relationships amongst the Children’s homes, particularly between Possibility Program Youth Hostel, Jamaica National Children’s Home, Jerusalem Children’s Home, and Strathmore Garden’s Childcare Facility. The event had the children participating in track and field activities, non-track and field activities, netball and football activities. We were able to garner sponsorship from Food for the Poor Jamaica, Amalya Auto Solutions Limited, Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), EmKay Sports and Trophies, UWI Bookshop, Woolworth, Hilo Supermarket, the Rotary Club of New Kingston and Portmore Gas Distributors Limited. Jamaica National Children’s home was the victor of the games and was awarded a cash prize valued at $10,000, 1st place trophy, certificates of participation, stationery items and food items. Strathmore Gardens and Possibility Program Youth Hostel emerged as 1st and 2nd runner up respectively and were awarded with trophies, certificates of participation, stationery items and food items. Jerusalem Children’s home received stationery items and food items as well. We were able to garner stationery items from our annual stationery drive which commenced on July 2nd and ended on August 18th. Food was provided by 5 Spiced catering by Alecia.
On the same day, some members volunteered their time to assist the Rotary Club of Liguanea Plains to repaint selected classrooms at the New Providence Primary School.
